Foul play not suspected in inmate death officials say

SASKATOON — Officials are saying no foul play is suspected in the death of a 29-year-old male inmate found unresponsive in a unit at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre at 11:28 a.m. on March 18.

An investigation into the death is being conducted by the Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an internal investigation. 

According to a press release, corrections staff initiated life-saving measures and called EMS. EMS transported the inmate to hospital via ambulance. The man passed away in hospital on March 23.
