WEYBURN - “Growing Home” is an initiative from BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions to support organizations that are the lifeblood of their rural communities. One organization in each of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario will receive $25,000 to further their important work.

Voting is open to the public to determine which of the three finalists in each province will receive a $25,000 investment. Below are two projects in the southern-southeastern area. Visit agsolutions.ca/growinghome to place your vote! The voting period will close April 15 and winners will be announced April 30.

Bengough Agricultural Society: The Bengough Agricultural Society was established in 1916 and has provided ground and agricultural activities in our community and area ever since. We have been fundraising for a new building that would provide shelter, a kitchen and bathrooms with a running water system. They have secured funds to start construction of the exterior building this spring.

Further financing is required to complete the project. This building will enhance the events held at our agricultural grounds. Currently we host high school rodeos, bull riding, amateur rodeo, horse shows, barrel racing and more. Their goal is to continue to provide a venue for these activities and events for future generations.

Radville-Laurier Regional Park Fund: Upgrades and development of recreation facilities is integral to the health and welfare of our community, as much as it is to individual participants. It has also created and generated renewed interest and hope in the community.

Building a new pool, pool house, campground/playground, and making upgrades to the recreation complex will provide a legacy for the future and generate pride within the community. These facilities are not just buildings but symbols of the community. They are tools to preserve our past, culture and heritage, and open doors for new and exciting opportunities.

Please help support rural Canadian communities by spreading the word about Growing Home with BASF, highlighting each of the Saskatchewan finalist organizations, sharing on social media and casting your vote for the organization in each province you believe is most deserving.
