Dad grew up on the family farm south of Carlyle. He attended Carelton Junction School and while living with her grandparents, attended Carlyle High School. Dad worked at the post office while attending high school. Dad played the violin and the harmonica for fun. Dad completed grade 11 and then went on to work as a farm hand. Dad worked for Pete Flynn, Frank Cutler and Willoughbys. For a time Dad also worked at Plato Farm. While Dad was working there he took a farm mechanic course.
Our parents married April 10, 1954 at the Manse in Carlyle by Rev. McIntosh. They began their married life in Regina where Dad worked as a partsman for Cockshutt Farm Equipment and then Silverwood Dairy for the next 12 years. Dad also volunteered at the Library, showing films in the park for kids, showing films at the museum and even at the Hotel Sask. On his days off he also worked at the garage. They returned to the family farm July 5, 1966 to help his parents with the dairy farm. In 1977, Dad bought the farm from Grampa. In 1989, Dad sold out the dairy cattle and began to work for Birger Rasmussen, as well as farm the land. A few years ago Dad retired and rented out the farm land. In November, 2013 our parents moved to Carlyle.
Dad's life was celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Carlyle Full Gospel Church with Pastor Carl Brishton officiating. Interment was Glen Morris Cemetery.
