Lionel Albert Boutin
1930 - 2014
Surrounded by his children and grandchildren in prayer, Lionel Boutin, age 84, formerly of Alida, Sask. passed away peacefully to eternal life on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Regina General Hospital as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle accident at Carlyle, Sask.
Dad was born on the family farm near Cantal, Sask., the oldest child of Alcide and Flore-Emma. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Marie Anna (née Poirier); his daughter Rejeanne (Dallas - Josie & Adrie), his six sons, Donald (Shelley - Aimee (Brycen) & Michele), Raymond (Frances - Simone & Janelle), Normand, Albert (Sheila - Collin (Meghan), Renée, & Emma), Bernard (Tracy - Carmelle, Dharma, & Abby), & Fernand (Jennifer - Léo, Luc, Ben, & Anna). He is also survived by his sisters, Armande, Irène, Isabelle (Ken), Gisèle (Greg), Hélène (René), & Eveline (Roger); his brothers, Robert (Solange), & Wilfrid (Alyse), & Marie Anna's siblings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; his step mother Bernadette; close uncle Allyre; his sister Jeannette (Hervé & Alex), & brothers-in-law Howard, Laurier, Gérard, & Marcel.
Dad spent the majority of his life working on the family farm where he was born. In addition, dad worked in the oil patch as a contract operator, and enjoyed socializing with all those who crossed his path. One of Dad's biggest examples was his strong work ethic; there was never a shortage of things to do and if there was a lull between busy seasons, he found projects for us to be busy with. He spent the later years of his life in the Carlyle area where his new job was caring for mom at the Moose Mountain Lodge. Dad was a very social man and enjoyed attending family functions, his children's and grandchildren's sporting, musical and 4-H events, interacting with people of any age.
Dad, may you find peace and rest, you deserve it.
The Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Both services were held at St. Raphael's R.C. Church, Cantal, Sask. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
