McCONNELL: Margaret May Cutler was born on April 28, 1938 on her grandparent's farm. Marg grew up on the farm south of Carlyle with her 3 brothers. On Nov. 6, 1957 Marg married Lloyd McConnell. The lived in Regina for a bit then made their home in Carlyle where they raised 6 children.
In her younger days, Marg loved to curl and play baseball. They would travel most weekends to play somewhere. In the fall Marg would help her dad and brothers on the farm, driving the grain truck. Marg worked at the Parkway Esso as a waitress and also ran the hotel cafe for a bit. Marg's son, Bill, owned the movie rental centre where she worked until she retired. Marg loved her flowers and ornaments. In the spring her yard was always in bloom. In the winter months their yard would light up the street with Christmas decorations. In the spring, they would plant a garden at the farm. Most mornings they would be out bright and early to weed and water it. They always had way more stuff than they would use, so a lot was given away. Marg loved to play Bingo. Her and Lloyd would be off to play somewhere a couple nights a week. Marg was a big curling fan and when it was on TV that's where you could find her cheering on her favorite team.
Christmas was always a big family gathering. Most years there would be about 40 family members gathered together. We started having Christmas supper at the Memorial Hall as no one's home was big enough for all of us. Marg enjoyed Christmas time so much, she would buy gifts and wrap them for everyone.
Marg took sick and went to live at the Moose Mountain Lodge. She looked forward to her family and friends coming to visit. Marg's brother Bob would play music there once a month. She loved to listen to them play and maybe have a dance or two.
Marg fell in January, 2014 and had the misfortune of breaking her hip. She never really recovered from it.
Marg passed away at the Lodge on March 31, 2014. She is predeceased by her son, Bill (Buffy), her parents, Frank and Isabell and her brother Bill. Marg's life was celebrated at the United Church in Carlyle, interment was at Moose Creek Cemetery.
Marg will be greatly missed and always loved by her family: husband Lloyd and children Jo-Ann (Greg), Janet (Chuck), Rick (Wendy), Lionel (Lori Ann), Tracy (Kelly); brothers Bob (Delores) Cutler and Gord (Barb) Cutler; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
