RICHARDSON: Vera Marie Richardson was born to Jessie and JJ Coffey April 3, 1918. She died peacefully on August 23, 2013 at Moose Mountain Lodge, Carlyle. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Percy Richardson, brothers Frank (Buck) and George and special friend Ralph Humphries. She is survived by sisters-in-law Ilien Coffey and Vicki Coffey and extended families.

She lived with her parents and grandparents on 12-6-3-W2nd near Carlyle, Saskatchewan. The family moved to section 1 for a short time but returned to their homestead. Vera attended Green Hill School and it was here that she found her passion for numbers and accounting.

Vera married Percy Richardson in 1940 and moved to Percy's farm north of Alameda, Saskatchewan. In the fall of 1948, they purchased the Red Wing Grocery store at Cranberry Portage, Manitoba. A short time later they moved to Winnipeg where Vera found employment at White Trucks. She did accounting and dispatch work at the firm.

In 1973 Vera's husband, Percy, passed away and she returned to the family farm. After being home for awhile, she decided to move to Carlyle where she found employment at Stockton's Electric and later with Brady's Feedlot. It was during this time Vera and Ralph Humphries connected. They spent many winters together in Arizona and at home here in Carlyle, enjoying each other's company.

Vera had many hobbies. She oil painted, knitted, crocheted and spent many hours figuring crossword puzzles and reading. She had a passion for music and musical instruments. She often played guitar and the piano. Her favourite singer was Daniel O'Donnel.

Vera visited the Carlyle library weekly, reading and writing to pass the time. She loved Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz shows and often made reference to their TV shows. She loved to watch curling and used the game as a means of socializing. She was also one of Saskatchewan's best Roughrider fans, seldom missing a game on TV.

Good health was important to Vera. She was very health conscious and doctored regularly. As years progressed she felt the need to be closer to a hospital and regular doctor, so she moved to Bow Valley Villa, Oxbow in 2010. She enjoyed her time there, but had to move to Sunset Haven, Carnduff after breaking her ankle and then hip. After a brief stay there and Estevan Regional Nursing Home, she finally got her wish and on November 1, 2012, she moved to Moose Mountain Lodge, Carlyle. Here she felt at home and was closer to family.

Wherever Vera was she talked and visited with people. She loved to tell stories and jokes. She kept up-to-date with everyone and their families, sending cards to them for their birthdays and special occasions. Vera was a unique person who will be remembered and missed by her family and friends.
