ESTEVAN — The top line of the Estevan Great North U18 AAA Bears had a night to remember Thursday against the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.
Gunner Moore had four goals and an assist, Roan Burgess scored twice and had three assists, and Jace McNichol assisted on each of those six goals during the victory. McNichol recently rejoined the Bears after he was reassigned by the Weyburn Red Wings at the SJHL trade deadline.
The Bears led 2-1 after the first and 5-3 at one point in the second, and then poured it on with the final four goals of the game.
Dylan Brass also scored twice for Estevan, and Will Nicholson had the other goal.
Cole Ivey started and allowed two goals on 13 shots. Brady Carr came on in relief and surrendered one goal on 20 shots.
Estevan outshot Notre Dame 73-33 on the night. Thirty of the Bears' shots on goals were registered in the third period.
The Bears (14-12-2) sit in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League standings with 14 games to play. They are six points clear of the ninth-place Battlefords Stars; the Bears have three games in hand.
Estevan will host the Saskatoon Contacts on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Affinity Place.
