YORKTON - The Estevan Bruins had a 2-0 lead in the first period and a 3-2 advantage late in the third, but lost 4-3 in overtime to the host Yorkton Terriers on Tuesday night.
Quintin Unreiner scored the game-winning goal 51 seconds into overtime for Yorkton.
Gabriel Filion opened the scoring for Estevan six minutes into the opening period, and Ilia Chmelevski doubled the lead with a goal late in the frame. Yorkton fought back on goals by David Coyle in the second and Aiden Knutson in the third.
Luke Rybinski's first as a Bruin with six minutes to play in the third put the Bruins back in the lead, but Jaron Desnoyers' goal with 1:48 remaining sent the contest to overtime, setting the stage for Unreiner's heroics.
Jackson Miller had 34 saves for Estevan in the loss, and Ethan Farrow stopped 24 shots for Yorkton.
It's going to be a busy weekend for Estevan (20-20-2-2), as they will host the Melfort Mustangs on Feb. 16 and the Terriers the following night. Both games will start at 7 p.m. Then they will host the Notre Dame Hounds on Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. in a Family Day contest.
