CARLYLE – The two men charged in connection with a homicide that occurred on the White Bear First Nations last year had their matters heard in Carlyle Provincial Court on March 26.
Jeremy Whitebear is charged with second-degree murder in the December 2024 death of Talon Lonethunder, while Dwayne Maxie is charged with manslaughter. Both men had their matters adjourned to April 9.
Background: At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 3, 2024, the Carlyle RCMP received a report of an injured individual at a residence on the White Bear First Nations (WBFN). Officers immediately responded and located the 33-year-old Lonethunder deceased. He was originally from White Bear and was residing in Coronach.
Charges were announced Dec. 5, 2024. Both men were on the run at that time. Whitebear was arrested two days later at the WBFN. Maxie was apprehended Dec. 12, 2024, in Regina. They have had multiple court appearances since then.
