ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia Town Council held a meeting on May 9. In attendance at council table: Mayor Sharon Schauenberg; Counselors: Robert Ellert, Kent Fettes, Patrick Grondin, Graham Harvey, Peter Kordus, Renee Clermont; CAO Clint Mauthe, and Kerri Martin, director of corporate services.
Public acknowledgement was given to RCMP and Assiniboia Times.
The agenda accepted and adopted as presented. The April 25 minutes of regular council meeting were accepted and adopted as read. Moved by Grondin/Kordus.
The minutes of the public works committee of April 3 were read. The minutes of planning and development committee of January 25 were read. The minutes of Prince of Wales board meeting of March 9 were read. All approved and accepted as read. Moved by Fettes/ Grondin.
The RCMP report was presented by acting Sgt. Corporal Richard Kuhn. Reports accepted and adopted as read. There will be a golf tournament sponsored by the RCMP on June 9. Teams welcomed.
There is a drive through barbecue at the Assiniboia RCMP location on Thursday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $5 a person. The RCMP report was moved by Fettes/Grondin.
The Council of Assiniboia proclaimed that May 21-27 would be National Public Works Week in the Town of Assiniboia.
Report given to council by CAO Clint Mauthe. He reported the public pool would open on June 3.
The mini golf course that is being built at the museum is almost complete. Opening date for that to be announced.
The old site of the Turbo on Main Street will be paved this summer.

The 2023 town budget was accepted and approved as read. Moved by Harvey/Ellert. The accounts of meeting and functions attended by both Mayor and Councilors since last meeting were read.
The first Better Together BBQ of 2023 will he held July 4, hosted by the Town of Assiniboia.
There are plans underway for Black Top Hop sponsored by Shurniak Art Gallery set for July 1.
