The first day of bids was at the Culture Days event on Saturday at the Credit Union Spark Centre, where the works of art were on display, and as of Sunday, bidding for the items moved online and will be open for bids until Thursday, Nov. 25.
The artists are Jill Thorn, Regan Lanning Sara Irwin, Grant Paulson, Gary Anderson and Brenda King.
Jill Thorn is a quilter who loves to create new designs, especially those that create optical illusions. She has made a beautiful ‘Wanda’ pattern lap quilt with a cuddly minky backing.
Regan Lanning, curator for the City of Weyburn, creates all her original art pieces by hand. She made a unique ceramic bowl, four mugs and three custom designed earrings.
Sara Irwin began playing with glass and crockery three years ago. She created a beautiful Piciassette mosaic with ceramic tile and recycled materials. It is water resistant, and it measures 12” x 17”.
Grant Paulson is a member of the South Sask Woodturners Guild. He has made a beautiful decorative bowl from maple burl.
Gary Anderson is also a member of the South Sask Woodturners Guild. He carves beautiful comfort birds to help soothe people through difficult times.
Brenda King has been sewing since childhood and likes to rescue vintage material and turn them into fibre art. She has made a beautiful vintage collage, measuring 29” by 25”.
The process for bidding is as follows:
All bids have been transferred online to Rotary Club of Weyburn’s Facebook Page. Bids will be open until 4 p.m. on Nov. 25.
Bids can be made in the comments section of each picture of art work. Placing a number in the comments section is considered a confirmed bid.
Bids must be in increments of a minimum of $5. Multiple bids are accepted until Nov. 25.
The winning bidders will be contacted Nov. 26th. Arrangements will be made at that time for payment and pickup.
