Carlyle town council meeting highlights for Oct. 6.

CARLYLE - Carlyle town council held its first meeting of the month on Oct. 6.

Cannington MLA Daryl Harrison spoke at the meeting. While in attendance, he provided an update on current government happenings and council members had the opportunity to ask questions.

Recreation continues to be a topic at the forefront of the agenda; at this meeting, council ratified the hiring of recreation facility operators to join the newly formed parks and recreation department.

The recreation facility building condition assessments reports completed by WSP Engineering this summer are starting to arrive, they will be reviewed for maintenance items and capital budget planning for 2022.

The Cornerstone Family and Youth Centre will be expanding its operations in the Carlyle Civic Centre building in the near future. Council approved a renovation and flooring upgrade to the space to prepare for their arrival.

Council would like to remind Carlyle residents that there will be a free day at the transfer station on Oct. 16 from 1-4 p.m. This a great opportunity to remove any debris from your yard before winter settles in.

The next regular meeting of council will be held on Oct. 20.
