Construction projects continue for City of Weyburn

The City of Weyburn's Engineering Department ongoing construction projects in 2023 are aimed at enhancing the city's infrastructure and ensuring safer and more efficient travel for residents and visitors.

WEYBURN - The City of Weyburn's Engineering Department ongoing construction projects in 2023 are aimed at enhancing the city's infrastructure and ensuring safer and more efficient travel for residents and visitors.The city identified these following upgrades as essential for the continued growth and development of Weyburn.

Current Projects
Fifth St.: The curb and gutter construction is now complete, with the road built back to grade. The remaining work of asphalt laying is anticipated to be completed within the next week, marking the finishing touches on this major project.

Railway Ave.: Scheduled for completion and will be reopened to traffic by the end of the week. Paving is expected to commence in late summer, further enhancing the accessibility and convenience of this main artery.

Mergens St.: While significant progress has been made on Mergens St., a few small sections still require pouring. Weather permitting, completion of these sections is anticipated early next week.

Government Rd. (sidewalk): Construction of the Government Rd. sidewalk is underway this week, providing much-needed improvement for pedestrian safety and accessibility. This project is estimated to be completed within a week.

Hydrant and Valve Replacements: An ongoing effort throughout the city, the replacement of hydrants and valves is progressing. It is anticipated to continue for approximately one month, taking place at various locations throughout Weyburn.

Upcoming Projects
16th St. and First Ave. N: Scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 14, this project will involve significant construction activities. As a result, residents and commuters should expect traffic delays, partial and full lane closures. The City requests everyone's cooperation and understanding during this period. The project is estimated to take a month to complete, with the end result being enhanced transportation routes, traffic flow and turning lanes.

Duncan Dr.: The project is set to begin within the next two weeks. This vital undertaking will improve the road's infrastructure, contributing to water service upgrades, road repairs and increased safety for drivers and pedestrians.
