Drinking Water Advisory still in effect for Assiniboia

ASSINIBOIA - All residents and users of the Town of Assiniboia were reminded that a precautionary drinking water advisory is still in effect.

Pursuant to clause 36(1)(a) of The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010 this Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory is issued due to a turbidity exceedance and therefore the safety of Town of Assiniboia drinking water supply cannot be ensured at all times.

All consumers must be notified to: boil all water, used for drinking purposes, for at least one minute, at a rolling boil, prior to usage.

Residents are advised not to drink from any public drinking fountains supplied with water from the public water supply.

There is no need to boil water used for other household purposes, such as laundry or housecleaning.

Adults, adolescents and older children may shower, bathe or wash using tap water but should avoid swallowing the water. Dishes may be disinfected by washing in dishwashing machines that have a dry cycle or a final rinse that exceeds 450 Celsius for 20 minutes, 500 C for five minutes, or 720 C for one minute.

Residents are recommended to use an alternative water source that is known to be safe if they do not wish to boil the water.

For any concerns, residents can consult with your physician if they have cuts or rashes that are severe before using the water.
