JK Junior is gaining traction

Focus on Made in Canada
JK Junior manufacturing

Estevan 鈥 The JK Junior, a secondary containment system for stuffing boxes on pumpjacks, is gaining traction.

That鈥檚 according to Jayson King, who created the JK Junior.

鈥淭hey鈥檙e starting to kick off here, in southeast Saskatchewan and Manitoba, but not getting much traction in Alberta, for some reason. Starting to get a little bit of traction in North Dakota,鈥 he said on Dec. 14.

There鈥檚 some interest in the Shaunavon area as well.

A few went over to Saudi Arabia, but that鈥檚 it so far. The political tension between the desert kingdom and Canada has not been helpful for sales.

The JK Junior is manufactured in southeast Saskatchewan. A recent production run was to replenish stock.

鈥淚 changed it up a bit,鈥 he said. The side clamps for the lid have been changed to a bolts, a more rugged design. There鈥檚 been some minor internal changes as well.

That would bring the design to version 3 now.

鈥淎ll the stuff that鈥檚 out there, I鈥檓 getting good feedback on it. People that have them, like them. A lot of people wanted to go, but the last quarter, quarter-and-a-half, budgets were out of money, and they had money allocated with other things.鈥

He anticipates things will pick up in the new year. Sales have picked up every year. 鈥淚t鈥檚 going the right way,鈥 he said.

鈥淲e get lots of good feedback. Everybody鈥檚 happy with the way its working. They鈥檙e getting three to four times more life out of their packing and it鈥檚 working well,鈥 he said.

The design has a wick which applies oil to the polish rod, keeping it cool and lubricated. It is also cleaned with the integrated wiper within the JK Junior.

Most of the sizeable oil producers in southeast Saskatchewan have at least a few, trying it out. 鈥淎nd they鈥檙e liking it,鈥 he said.

鈥淚t鈥檚 built in Saskatchewan.

鈥淚t鈥檚 all 100 per cent done here. A lot of other guys get everything built overseas and they bring it here, box it up and call it built in Saskatchewan. It鈥檚 not.

鈥(The JK Junior) is 100 per cent built in Saskatchewan,鈥 King said.
