The finalists for the Music Towns contest were announced last month. At the time, it was noted that passionate nominations from the Estevan area exemplified hometown pride and a love of music.

Nominations were received from over 400 communities across the country. Sixteen finalists were chosen from four different regions, including the west, based on the submissions describing what makes each community special.

The four winning communities from across Canada are scheduled to be announced on July 14.

A multiple Juno and Canadian Country Music Association Award-winner, Smith is the only Canadian country artist with 12 No. 1 singles. The reigning, three-time Canadian Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year, he has 18 Canadian gold-certified singles, four gold-certified albums and seven platinum-certified singles.
