Municipal elections being held throughout the Southeast.

Seats are being contested on town and rural municipal councils and school boards throughout the region.

MOOSOMIN — This Wednesday, Nov. 13 is municipal election day in Saskatchewan, with voters heading to the polls to elect mayors, reeves, councillors, and school board trustees.

Towns, villages, rural municipalities, and school boards will be holding their elections on that day with polls open between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. in most municipalities. 

While some municipalities and school boards saw members elected by acclamation, there are many elections this year.

Moosomin has 11 people running for council and three for mayor. Esterhazy has nine running for council and two for mayor. There are also elections in Kipling, Wawota, Whitewood, Broadview and Grenfell.

In the RMs there are elections being held in the RM of Moosomin, RM of Maryfield, RM of Walpole, RM of Willowdale, RM of Hazelwood, and the RM of Elcapo.

There are also elections for school board trustees in the South East Cornerstone School Division, Prairie Valley School Division, and Good Spirit School Division.

Following is a list of the elections taking place:

Towns

Moosomin tips the scales with the most candidates in the area with three running for mayor and 11 running for council.

Looking for a return to the mayor’s seat is Larry Tomlinson with former councillor Murray Gray as well as John Turnbull also vying for the job.

Seeking re-election on council are Greg Nosterud, Kyla Fingas, and Garry Towler while Steven Gillis, Victor Santos Cardoza, Hugh Auchstaetter, Todd Norgan, Andie Hodgson, Ed Blondeau, Heather Truman, and Devin Nosterud are seeking a place as well.

Voting will be at the MCC Centre on 113 Wright Road East.

 

Esterhazy will see two candidates vying for the mayor’s seat with incumbent Grant Forster and former councillor Randy Bot running.

There are nine candidates running for council, including Bryant Campbell, William Gale, Apooray Joshi, Nichol L. Kripki, Dana Paidel, Alan Petracek, and incumbents Vernon Petracek, Martin Pfeifer, and Maggie Rowland. 

Voting will be at the SN Boreen Centre at 800 4th Avenue.

 

In Kipling, there are seven candidates running for council. Seeking re-election are Devin Draper, Colby Sproat, and James Gallagher. New candidates are Tina Beke, Maria Hill, and Tara Carter.

Voting will be at the Kipling Community Centre at 301 6th Avenue.

 

In Wawota, incumbent mayor Kevin Kay is seeking re-election with Shawn Murray also running for the mayor’s seat.

Catherine Alexander, Joel Carpenter, Marley Drumm, Brandon Harper, Corbin Klein, Nolan Murray, and Ken Robinson are running for council, with Allan Bunz, Jordan Ethier, and Dwayne Linder seeking re-election as well.

Voting will be at the Wawota Town Hall at 308 Railway Avenue.

 

Whitewood will see Wayne Shepherd and Chris Ashfield vying for the mayor seat.

There are seven candidates running for six councillor positions, including Shawna Stradeski, Emerson Chug, Cole Jacobs, Danielle Jones, Troy Brule, Jordan Giroux, and Becky Jordan.

Voting will be at the Town Office at 701 Lalonde Street.

 

In Broadview, an election will be held for mayor with Carol Mills and incumbent Colleen Umpherville both seeking that seat.

Voting will be at Administration Office at 609 Main Street on Nov. 13.

 

In Grenfell, seeking the position of Mayor are Brad Bjorndahl and Mark Steininger.

There are 10 candidates running for six councillor seats. Incumbents R. Dwayne Stone, Wes Overand, and Leslie McGhie will seek re-election while Michael Shilack, Kim Lemieux, Paul Davies, Troy Steininger, Bill Robinson, Dale Hardy, and Dwight Fisher will be new faces.

Voting will be at the Community Hall from 8 am-8 pm.

RMs

The RM of Moosomin will see incumbent Reeve David Moffatt and former Division 4 councillor Mark McCorriston vying for the reeve’s position.

Division 1 will be a contest between Murray Easton and Sean McTavish, while in Division 3, Herb Doll will seek re-election as Glen Crosson challenges.

Voting will be at the Municipal Office at 602 Main Street, Moosomin.

 

In the RM Maryfield, elections will be held for Division 3 between Clint Radke and incumbent Tyler Van Eaton and in Division 5 between Jody Blyth and incumbent Bryce Olson.

Voting will be at the RM office, 115 Main Street in Maryfield.

 

In the RM of Walpole there will be an election for reeve between incumbent Blair Wilson and William Hollingshead. In Division 5 there will be an election between Evan Barnard and Brayden Hall.

Voting will be at the Wawota Town Hall at 308 Railway Avenue.

 

In the RM of Hazelwood, there will be an election for Division 5 in a race between Robert Meszaros and Abraham Pretorius.

Voting will be at the RM office just east of Kipling along Highway 48.

 

The RM of Willowdale has three candidates vying for the position of reeve with incumbent Larry Sippola, as well as Lane Chesney, and Elizabeth Domoslai seeking the seat.

Voting will be at the Municipal Office, 711 Lalonde Street in Whitewood.

 

The RM of Elcapo will see an election for Divsion 5 Councillor between incumbent Jamie Knox and Darcy Lowenberg.

Voting will be at the Municipal Administration Office at 609 Main Street in Broadview.

School Boards

In the South East Cornerstone School Division, there will be elections for board positions in two subdivisions. In Subdivision 2, Velda Weatherald will take on incumbent Jim Vermeersch, while in Subdivision 5, incumbent Audrey Trombley and Cheryl Lake seek the position.

In Subdivision 2, voting will be held at Arcola School, 302 Souris Avenue; RM Moose Mountain Office, 250 8th Street West in Carlyle; Four Seasons Drop-In Centre, 31 Waseca Avenue, Kenosee Lake; Manor School, #1 Fraser Street; RM of Maryfield Office, 115 Main Street; and at the Wawota Town Hall, 310 Railway Avenue.

In Division 5, voting will take place at the Fillmore Village Office, 51 Main Street; Macoun School, 670 Munroe Street; Midale 39er’s Building, 203 Main Street; Stoughton Town Office, 232 Main Street; RM of Weyburn office, 80A 18th Street, Weyburn.

 

The Good Spirit School Division will see elections in Subdivision 6 with Victoria Duff and Kendra Stav running; and Subdivision 7 where Leah Maier and Jamie Smart-Sondergaard are candidates.

In Subdivision 6 voting will take place at: CN Community Centre, 575 2nd Avenue West in Melville, and the Grayson Senior’s Centre at 111 Main Street.

In Subdivision 7 voting will take place at: The SN Boreen Centre, 800 4th Avenue in Esterhazy and the Reg Banga Communiplex, 203 Ohlen Street in Stockholm.

 

The Prairie Valley School Division will see elections in Subdivisions 2 between Morgan Darbellay and Charla Sebastian; In Subdivision 3 between incumbent Marlene Blatter, Karla Esplin, and Gwen Paul; In Subdivision 4 between Linden Hall, Meghan Laverdiere, Natasha Morrow, and Jay Wirth; In Subdivision 5 between Jennifer Kraushaar and incumbent Jana Wolfe; In Subdivision 8 beteen Andrew Boschman, Crystal Schouten, Audra Hill, and Bruce Evans; and in Subdivision 9 between incumbent Kimberly Kiel and Melanie Martin. 

In Subdivision 2 voting will take place at: Lumsden Centennial Hall, 40 3rd Avenue; Bethune Community Hall, 524 East Street; Pense Town Office, 243 Brunswick Street; Grand Coulee Town Hall, 1023 Railway Avenue; and the Regina Beach Memorial Hall, 101 Centre Street. 

In Subdivision 3 voting will take place at: Lipton Village Office, 201 Main Street; Fort Qu’Appelle Legion, 197 Company Avenue South; and the Balcarres Town Hall, 219 Main Street.

In Subdivision 4 voting will take place at: Lemberg Town Office, 332 Main Street; Neudorf Community Hall, 803 Railway Avenue; Indian Head Memorial Hall, 425 Grand Avenue; and the Wolseley Wolf Creek Friendship Centre, 117 Sherbrooke Street.

In Subdivision 5 voting will take place at: Grenfell Community Hall, 807 Desmond Street; Broadview Administration Office, 609 Main Street; and the Town of Whitewood Office, 731 Lalonde Street.

In Subdivision 8 voting will take place at: White City Community Centre, 12 Ramm Avenue; Milestone Masonic Hall, 125 Main Street; and the Emerald Park Municipal Office, 100 Hutchence Road.

In Subdivision 9 voting will take place at: Pilot Butte Community Hall, 222 Diamond Place; Balgonie Multiplex Community Hall, 1045 Highway 364; and the Edenwold Community Hall, 204 Brewer Street.
