WEYBURN – The sixth annual edition of Flavours of Fall Food and Beverage Expo is set to roll on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Exhibition Hall, offering up a variety of tastes from vendors.
The Flavours of Fall is a fundraising event hosted by the Weyburn Agricultural Society, a registered non-profit organization. As such, they rely on fundraisers and events like Flavours of Fall and the annual Weyburn Fair Days to generate revenue.
The food and drink expo currently has 25 vendors confirmed which will be selling various food and beverage samples, including wine, beer and spirits from wineries, distilleries and breweries from across the prairies.
Samples are purchased by token and token prices are set by the vendors, and this year the token sponsor is Great Plains Ford and Great Plains Motor Sports.
Entertainers hitting the Whitecap Resources main stage will be Weyburn’s Dan Cugnet and his band at 8 p.m., followed up by the fantastic cover band Tequila Mockingbird, at 10 p.m.
“We will once again have a fun interactive photo booth sponsored by CLHbid.com,” said organizer Lisa Vick.
Doors open at 8 p.m., and anyone who is in the doors before 9 p.m. will be able to enter their name in for a fully stocked beverage center give-away. All attendees will be able to enter in for a door prize draw of a gift certificate to Big Jim’s Brewshop.
“We will also be helping to raise funds for Isaiah Evan's Journey by selling 50/50 tickets during the evening,” said Vick.
Tickets are on sale now, and are available at Weyburn Pharmasave. If you are from out of town, you can call the Weyburn Agricultural Society office to purchase tickets at the pre-sale price for pickup at the door. Pre-sale tickets are just $20 each. Tickets bought at the door will be $25 each. There are a limited number of tickets available to the event.
As always, safety is a priority. Barber Motors Weyburn has donated the use of three vans to provide transportation to and from the event within city limits. Rides to the event can be arranged to the event starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday by calling the Agricultural Society office at 842-4052. When you are ready to head home, vans will be outside ready to go.
The Weyburn Agricultural Society owns and maintains the grandstands, Exhibition Hall (building that houses the curling rink), the McFadden Building, the Lions Den, Souris Valley Industries Show and Sale Arena, and the rodeo arena.
Maintenance and upgrades to these buildings and the grounds is mainly made possible by hosting these fundraising events.
The Weyburn Ag Society buildings and grounds are an integral part of the community. So many amazing local and provincial events are held on the grounds that simply cannot be held anywhere else within the city of Weyburn.
A few examples of the types of events that are hosted on the Weyburn Ag Society’s grounds are the annual fair, the Oil and Gas Show, the drive-in movie, numerous 4-H events, provincial cattle shows, trade shows, large weddings and funerals in Exhibition Hall.
