ESTEVAN - The Southeast Techhub has announced AI Shpyth, executive director of the International Minerals Innovation Institute, will provide information and insight into the world of nuclear power and SMRs from a third-party perspective.
Shpyth will speak through the Innovation Conversation series, hosted by the Southeast Techhub and Southeast College. The event will take place on Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Southeast Techhub in Estevan and is free to attend. Those interested are encouraged to pre-register.
Shpyth has more than 30 years of consulting, government and industry experience related to the minerals and nuclear sectors. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan in 1986, he obtained his master's degrees in environmental studies from York University in Ontario in 1991 and in environmental law and policy from the Vermont Law School, where he graduated with highest honours in 2014.
As a consultant, Shpyth has worked on environmental assessments and feasibility studies for minerals projects in Saskatchewan (potash), British Columbia (copper) and Manitoba (silica sand).
"Estevan Techhub is proud to partner with Southeast College to jumpstart the fall season with this next volume of the Innovation Conversation series, that will continue to promote innovation and technology in southeast Saskatchewan," the Techhub said in a news release.
Shpyth will be the third speaker in the series.
