RCMP have charged a youth in connection to the assault of a pregnant woman.

The RCMP Major Crime South Unit have laid charges against a 15-year-old male from the Whitebear First Nation following a five month investigation relating to a break and enter and assault of a 21-year-old female, also from the Whitebear First Nation. The youth, whose name cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with break and enter and committing an aggravated assault. The youth was arrested in Carlyle on November 9 while in custody on an unrelated matter and was scheduled to appear in court on November 24 in Carlyle. Formal charges were laid on November 17.The 21-year-old victim has been released from hospital and her baby girl, born June 20, remains under medical care in hospital. Over 100 interviews were conducted to support this investigation and police received support and co-operation from the Whitebear First Nation community.
