Dan Lupichuk of Fort Qu’Appelle won $2 million on a 20X SUPREME Scratch and Win ticket.

FORT QU’APPELLE — Dan Lupichuk of Fort Qu’Appelle is hoping to put the $2 million he won on a 20X SUPREME Scratch and Win ticket towards better times for his wife.

Lupichuk said he’s in a different position than many winners when it comes to spending his windfall.

“My first thought was that we could go overseas and find specialized medical care for my wife,” he said. “If my wife weren’t unwell, I’d have a different reaction. The trips and big purchases are secondary for me right now.”

The winner said he’s been going to the same retailer — Buffalo Crossing Convenience — for years because of the friendship he has built with the staff. The store is located at Highway 210 and 56 in Echo Lake.

“I go by there quite regularly and buy whatever [lottery ticket] looks enticing,” he explained. “They’re always friendly!”

This time, the 20X SUPREME caught his eye and he checked it right in the store.

“I checked a couple other tickets I had on hand and then got to this one and thought, ‘Wow!’” he recounted. “I said [a curse word], and the cashier said, ‘You’re not allowed to talk like that in here.’”

“Then she checked it and when she saw the amount, she said the exact same thing,’” he laughed. “It made it even better to share the experience with the folks there.”
