WEYBURN – The Soo Line Cruisers made a donation of $800 to the Weyburn Humane Society on Friday afternoon, presented by Contessa Hill, as part of the proceeds from the car show held this past summer.

Shelter manager Colleen Morrice, who accepted the donation along with shelter staff Alex Reeve, said the funds will go towards food and kitty litter, along with any other pressing needs at the shelter.

She noted the shelter is at capacity for both cats and dogs, including sheltering a dog with a litter of puppies that are only two weeks old and won’t be able to be adopted for another six weeks.

Morrice said some of the most pressing needs right now are for cleaning supplies, garbage bags and kitten food.

The Weyburn Humane Society will also be looking for a number of new board members at their annual meeting, which is set for Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Weyburn Travelodge.
