WEYBURN - The Weyburn Review and Weyburn This Week won several General Excellence awards in the 2024 Better Â鶹´«Ã½s Competition.
In the Class B Circulation (800 to 1,119), The Review won first place in Best Editorial Page, first place in Best Overall Paper, second place for best Front Page,
In the Class C Circulation (1,200 to 6,499), The Weyburn This Week won second place in Best Front Page.
In the Premier Awards, Greg Nikkel won first place in Editorial Writing Excellence for the Weyburn Review.
Nikkel also won third place in the Best Saskatchewan Arts or Cultural Series, for a series of stories on Brayden King, who competed on American Idol.
The Best Tourism Story second place award went to Nikkel, for coverage of Weyburn Tourism's rebranding of their logo and slogan.
Nikkel also won second place in Best Sports Photo, for an engaging hockey shot at the net, during the Weyburn Red Wings hockey season.
