WEYBURN – The Rotary Clubs of Weyburn and Estevan are once again combining efforts for the golf ball drop fundraiser, which was last held in 2019, and tickets are on sale now from any Rotary member, or at the Weyburn Review front counter.
The Estevan club will host the golf ball drop on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Woodlawn Golf Club.
Tickets are $5 each, and each one has a unique number which is matched to a number on a golf ball.
With a maximum of 10,000 tickets sold, the balls with matching ticket numbers will be placed into a giant bucket and dropped by a crane over a golf hole. The three balls closest to the hole, or in it, will win the cash prizes.
The prizes are $5,000 for first prize, $3,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to STARS air ambulance and Estevan Minor Ball.
In addition, the funds that the Weyburn club receive will go towards supporting their many community organizations, such as the Care-A-Van Society, Salvation Army, Music Festival, hospital equipment, Weyburn Inclusion, Wor-Kin Shop, KidSport, the school swim program and free swimming through the summer, as well as scholarships at Southeast College and the Weyburn Comprehensive School.
