Estevan's Boston Tait named to all-star team at marquee U15 tournament

Defenceman Boston Tait of Estevan picked up another accolade this weekend at a prestigious tournament in Regina.

ESTEVAN - Boston Tait has earned another recognition.

Tait, a defenceman for the Estevan TS&M U15 AA Bruins, was selected to the tournament all-star team at the Graham Tuer U15 Hockey Challenge. Tait finished the competition with six goals and three assists for nine points in four games.

In league play, Tait is the top-scoring defenceman in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League's U15 division so far this season with 11 goals and five assists for 16 points in six games. He has also been called up to play for the Estevan Great North U18 AAA Bears, and has recorded a goal in two games at that level.

The TS&M Bruins went 2-2 during the tournament, which is one of the top tournaments for the U15 age group in Saskatchewan.

Estevan opened the competition with a 10-3 loss to the Northern Alberta Xtreme club. Tait and Nathan Gardiner had short-handed goals for Estevan in the first period, and Cayden Snell added a power-play tally in the second.

Brayden Clay made 36 saves for Estevan. 

The next game was a 3-2 victory over the Lloydminster Lancers. Tait scored early in the first to open the scoring and added a goal early in the second for a 2-0 lead. The Lancers scored in the second and in the third to tie the game. Gardiner's goal with 7:45 to play in the third was the game winner.

Quintin Sliva made 35 saves in the victory.
Estevan then defeated the Northeast Wolfpack 9-5. Gardiner finished with three goals and three assists in the win, while Tait wound up with two goals and three helpers. Ryder Singleton had two goals, and Jayden Chernoff and Ethan Rutledge also scored.

The Bruins scored five unanswered goals in the second and third periods to take over the game after falling behind 3-2.

Sliva made 30 saves in the victory.  

Estevan finished the tournament with a 5-3 victory over the Pilot Mound Buffalos. Estevan trailed 3-1 in the second, rallied with two goals to tie the game at 3-3 after 40 minutes, but then surrendered two in the third.

Tait, Tucker Laurent and Gardiner had Estevan's goals.

Sliva made 23 saves for Estevan.
