Oungre athlete Ashworth wins silver at Commonwealth Games

Alexis Ashworth has won silver in weightlifting.

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. - A talented athlete from southeast Saskatchewan has medaled at the Commonwealth Games - one of the largest international multi-sport competitions on the planet. 

Alexis Ashworth of Oungre earned silver in the women's 71-kilogram class. Her lift was 214 kilograms. 

She was one of 13 Canadians to win a medal at the games on Monday. 

The Commonwealth Games are for athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. It runs from July 28-Aug. 8.
