WEYBURN - Elephant’s ears, mini donuts, the ferris wheel, lawn mower races, grandstand performances, 4-H shows and so much more!
The crew at the Ag Society has been hard at work for months, planning the 114th Weyburn Fair. The annual parade will be held tomorrow (Thursday) morning. Downtown streets will be packed with children and adults alike, watching with anticipation as float after float passes through our city. Children will eagerly wait for candy and freezies to be thrown into the crowded streets.
Fair Days kicked off on Canada Day with the showing of the Mario Bros. Movie at Exhibition Hall, followed by the City of Weyburn’s amazing firework display.
Sunday saw the start of the 2023 4-H show. Members have spent countless hours preparing and grooming their animals for the show.
Barrel racers and rodeo enthusiasts have been training and demo derby drivers have been modifying their vehicles in preparation for their events.
The midway opens Thursday, with games, rides, exhibits and more.
Countless hours are clocked by volunteers and participants, preparing for this week of fun and celebration.
There’s just something about a small town (city) fair. Is it the sounds? The smells? The sights? Or the coming together of a community to provide something for everyone to enjoy?
Next Saturday (July 15) Creelman will once again be hosting “The Biggest Little Fair in Saskatchewan.” This community is well-known for its action-packed day of pig scrambles, cattle and horse shows, and of course … food. The day kicks off with a pancake breakfast, followed by a parade down Main Street.
Volleyball and slo-pitch tournaments, exhibits, a craft and trade show and a children’s midway will round out the day, which ends with a cabaret.
