WEYBURN – A full day of activities and events highlighted Weyburn's Culture Days celebration on Friday and Saturday, put on by the Weyburn Arts Council and Weyburn Art Gallery.

The weekend began with a reception on Friday evening with artist Hanna Yokozawa Farquharson as she spoke about her exhibition, "Gaia Symphony", and showed the silk materials she used for one of her works.

Saturday included a paint-your-flag activity, where people could paint the flag of their country of origin; a demonstration of traditional Indian dancing by Weyburn's Malayalee community, and a collaborative mural painting of a photo of the Soo Line Museum.

The Weyburn Wado Kai Karate Club also put on a demonstration in the mini-gym in the afternoon.

A reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. for the exhibition, "The Degenhart Effect", featuring some of the many works by longtime Weyburn art teacher and artist, Eltje Degenhart.
