Weyburn police investigate B&E, theft from a storage bay

Weyburn police are investigating a report of a break-in and theft from a storage bay.

WEYBURN - The Weyburn Police Service received 80 calls for service during the period of Nov. 11 to 17. Eleven charges were laid during this period – all related to Traffic Safety Act offences.

Police received a report of a break and enter to a storage bay on Nov. 12. Several items were reported stolen. Police believed the break and enter and theft occurred sometime over the previous weekend. The incident remains under investigation.

Also on Nov. 12, police received a report of a motor vehicle collision at a downtown business parking lot. The driver of the offending vehicle failed to report the collision to the other vehicle owner. A witness was able to obtain a license plate of the offending vehicle. The matter remains under investigation.

Officers observed a vehicle being operated erratically in the southwest area of the city late in the evening on Nov. 11. Police conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, and the driver was found to be a suspended driver. The drive was charged with driving while suspended, and the vehicle was also impounded for 30 days.

Police were dispatched to residence in the northwest area of the city during the early morning hours of Nov. 17. The homeowners reported numerous people were on the property for unknown reasons. Upon police arrival, several youth were located. The youth were warned about trespassing and returned to their homes.

Police conducted focused traffic enforcement in and around school zones throughout the week. Additionally, police conducted numerous compliance checks on individuals on release conditions. The compliance checks did not result in any charges.
