ASSINIBOIA — The Canada Post Community Foundation is providing $1.3 million in grants to programs benefitting children and youth across the country.
The grants will be distributed to charities, schools and community groups, some of which are in Saskatchewan.
CNEIP received the grant after a successful application process. They are hoping to have their room complete by Oct. 1.
Assiniboia and District Historical Society was one such grant recipient and will receive $1,200 to develop a buddy program to ensure no child or student is left out.
“The Assiniboia and District Historical Society has noticed that there are children or students that come to the Assiniboia and District Historical Museum,” says Sally Svenson, Assiniboia & District Historical Museum co-ordinator.
“Some have money to play mini golf and to partake in activities like scavenger hunt, whereas there are more young children and students that come that do not have the funds to participate.”
This community organization in Assiniboia did not want to see anyone left out so they plan to develop a buddy program to enable a child or student can participate in things like mini golf or scavenger hunts at the museum. This grant will assist them in including their target audience at the museum and the museum group are thankful for the opportunity this grant provides.
In total, 106 organizations across Canada received funding, including four of which received $50,000 signature grants.
