MOOSE JAW — City of Moose Jaw crews have shifted snow-clearing efforts to focus on clearing catch basins and storm sewer drains in flood-prone areas due to the melting temperatures.
Over the next several weeks, support crews will begin clearing culverts of snow, ice and debris, and storm sewer outfalls will be cleared where access is available.
Further, the city will closely monitor water levels in the Moose Jaw River and will mitigate flood risk to city infrastructure, including Crescent View Lift Station, as necessary.
Businesses and residents performing snow clearing on private property are reminded that snow must be stored on private property or hauled to the city snow dump, located across from the Yara Centre on High Street West.
The city requests that residents and businesses that have stored snow on city property, including in drainage ditches, clear their snow piles to ensure proper drainage when temperatures rise moving into the spring.
Residents can help by keeping catch basins and storm drains clear of snow and ice in proximity to their properties and by ensuring proper drainage away from houses and garages and towards the storm sewer network.
