Cold temperatures expected to leave Regina overnight Monday

After dealing with near -50 C temperatures over the past 3 days, Regina is expected to hit above-seasonal temperatures come Tuesday.

REGINA - It has been a bitter past few days in the City of Regina, as temperatures with the wind chill have felt close to -50 C, according to Environment Canada.

The weather agency has put Regina under extreme cold warning throughout the weekend and into Monday. A polar vortex is to blame for the below-seasonal temperatures, as all of Sask. is dealing with arctic temperatures.

Typically, Regina around this time of year has an average high of -11 C, a near 30 C difference in temperatures over the past few days. Despite the unusual temperatures, there is a warm-up expected overnight Monday as Regina is expected to hit a high of - 3 C on Tuesday.

The rest of the week looks mostly above seasonal, with day-time highs ranging from -5 C to -11 C.
