REGINA - A man is facing several charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, after a report of a theft in Regina.

On Aug. 25 at approximately 7 p.m., police were dispatched to a gas bar on the 4400 block of Rochdale Boulevard for the report of a theft. Police arrived and learned that a man entered the store, took merchandise, and exited. When staff confronted him, he pulled out a knife, and fled.

At approximately 11:55 p.m. that night, on an unrelated call for service, police located a man on the 3900 block of Rochdale Boulevard that matched the description provided from the earlier incident. The man refused to provide his identity to police and was placed under arrest. When police searched him, they found the knife believed to be shown earlier.

The man was arrested and charged. He was transported to cells, and upon booking, it was determined he provided a false name to police.

The man was then properly identified and found to be in breach of conditions of two release orders. He was then charged with obstructing a police officer.

A 30 year-old man is charged with: assault with a weapon; carry a concealed weapon; theft – shoplifting under $5,000; obstruct a peace officer; and fail to comply with condition of release order.

He made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 26 at 9:30 a.m.
