Barry and Patricia O鈥橦andley, the owners of a locally owned furniture store, can add two more awards to their trophy shelf, after Estevan Mercury readers recognized Room by Room Furniture for its tasteful furniture offerings and best fireplace sales.
鈥淲hen you have the people in general voting on it, it makes you feel pretty good,鈥� Barry said in an interview with the Estevan Mercury. 鈥淲hen it鈥檚 all said and done, they obviously feel that we must be a fair and honest retailer to support us the way they have and we鈥檙e lucky to have the support from the community and the surrounding areas that we do have,鈥� he added.
In fact, this year marks the second time, in a row, that the O鈥橦andleys won these awards. When the Mercury last offered the Best of Estevan competition in 2011, Room by Room Furniture was victorious in the same categories.
Both Barry and Patricia bring their decades of retail experience to their furniture store, garnering it a prestigious reputation within the community. It is well known for its quality home furnishings, unique accessories, diverse options, and affordable pricing. The friendly, non-commissioned sales staff and relaxing atmosphere are part of the reason, Barry said, that his store has won the award for the second straight time. The other reason, he said, are his nine talented employees. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e just the best people in the industry, as far as I鈥檓 concerned, with the knowledge of product and the time they will take to serve a customer,鈥� Barry explained.
The O鈥橦andleys are active proponents of shopping local and they thank their loyal customers for standing by them, despite the conveniences offered by online shopping. One of their favourite parts of the retail industry is meeting people and making personal connections to customers and employees. By supporting local businesses, they said, you are giving back to the community. In turn, Room by Room Furniture is able to sponsor various local organizations and continue their small part in the broader cycle of community support.
