If you鈥檙e looking for something to do on a Monday night throughout the month of August, you might be interested in taking in a few games of Bingo that will help support the activity department of the long-term care facility at the Outlook & District Health Centre.

The care home鈥檚 activity department will host Bingo events every Monday evening at 6:30 in August, starting on August 3rd.聽 They鈥檒l be held outdoors in the courtyard, and players are asked to use the west side gate entrance.聽 You will need to be pre-screened at the time of call and on the day of Bingo events before you can enter the courtyard.

If there is rainy weather, the games will be held online.

Each Bingo night will feature five rounds of the game, with prizes being offered to the winners.聽 A game pack of five will cost $20, while single games are $5 each.

All proceeds will benefit the Outlook facility鈥檚 activity department, which is raising funds for a wheelchair-accessible swing set for long-term care residents.

Whittney Greig of the activity department touched on the benefits of such an amenity.

鈥淪o I was trying to look for something we could put some of our fundraising money towards and little things are always nice, but then I got thinking of a little more than just small things to purchase and came up with the idea of a wheelchair swing that all residents could enjoy,鈥 Whittney told The Outlook. 聽鈥淲hether they鈥檙e in a wheelchair or ambulatory, there鈥檚 a spot for both! 聽Friends and family could also visit on this swing as well. 聽Swinging can be relaxing and beneficial to everyone and it鈥檚 something that these residents can look forward to!鈥

Greig says Outlook鈥檚 long-term care residents enjoy putting on such events that lets them mingle with the public.

鈥淭he residents enjoy helping out with fundraisers and what better way to look forward to a bigger project!鈥 she said. 聽鈥淚 chose Bingo as a fundraiser because everyone likes to play Bingo! 聽And even if it鈥檚 not a big turnout, the residents still enjoy playing Bingo. 聽It鈥檚 a fun idea for friends and family to have fun, visit a little and support the fundraiser.鈥

Greig has been looking at different prices but says the costs related to a wheelchair-accessible swing set can reach up to $10,000 depending on the cost exchange and other factors.

鈥淪o, it will take time, but in the end, residents can have a chance to enjoy 鈥榮winging on the porch鈥 or in our case, out on the patio!鈥 she said.
