Conquest Fire Crew Raising Funds for Addition

Adding on to fire hall will increase room for equipment

In this day and age, perhaps it’s more important than ever for emergency personnel of all types to have the space they need to effectively do their jobs.

The Conquest Fire Department is looking for some of that added space.

The crew has begun fundraising in order to build an extension to the existing fire hall, which will house some of the trucks and equipment that have been acquired during the last few years.  At the time that the current hall in Conquest was built back in the 1970’s, the department had two small trucks and a low amount of equipment.  Today, there are three trucks and three times the equipment, so space in the hall has become very limited.

The estimated cost for materials to build the extension to the hall is roughly $40,000, with the volunteer firefighters providing the labour.  The crew wants to raise as much of the funding needed with as little impact as possible to ratepayers in the village and the RM of Fertile Valley.

This construction is being called the ‘Legacy Project’.

The department held an open house and BBQ fundraiser on April 27, and also raffled off a Saskatchewan Roughriders cooler, which was donated by Doug and Caroline Geib and won by Colleen Reilly.  Just over $2000 was raised from the raffle, as well as $750 from the barbecue supper.

If you wish to make a donation to this project, please send it to the Village of Conquest at PO Box 250, S0L 0L0, and you’ll be issued an official tax receipt.
