Outlook Hosting 'Intimate' Women's Wellness Day

Day-long event taking place May 4

An all-day event taking place on the first Saturday of May in Outlook is aimed at promoting wellness and mindfulness in women of virtually all ages.

A New 鈥極utlook鈥 Women鈥檚 Wellness Day takes place on Saturday, May 4 at the Outlook Civic Centre.聽 The event runs from 9:30 am until 6:30 pm (lunch included) and features a handful of guest speakers and instructors that will touch on topics such as meditation, essential oils, and dealing with stress and trauma.

Organizer Cindy Kissick of Kerrobert manages Nevaeh Wellness & Day Spa, and is a registered yoga and meditation teacher, as well as a public speaker on wellness.

Cindy says the event is about providing another avenue to women who are looking for more ways to deal with the daily challenges of life.

鈥淚鈥檝e had three events like this in Kerrobert,鈥 said Kissick, on the phone with The Outlook.聽 鈥淚 just wanted to offer something different to women.聽 Western medicine is really good, but there are lots of different modalities out there in the world that maybe they don鈥檛 know about, so I thought I could help educate people a little bit.聽 Actually, one of your local people was a vendor at my show in Kerrobert, and she said she thought this could be a really good thing for Outlook because she got so much out of the speaker.聽 It鈥檚 a very intimate day getting to know yourself, getting to know others, learning different things, it鈥檚 very inclusive, and there are different things you鈥檙e going to be doing with each speaker.聽 I believe that you have to try something in life to learn from it, whether it鈥檚 good, bad or whatever.聽 People are scared of different things in small towns, but we always travel to the city and bigger centres to find out about this kind of stuff.鈥

The day may prove to be beneficial to younger women too, as Kissick believes that teens could benefit from taking in some of the discussions that will be had during the day.

鈥淭een girls should come because there are things that they might hear that may spark an interest in them,鈥 she said.聽 鈥淎nxiety is a huge thing in this world, so there are things on how to deal with anxiety, or maybe issues with depression, or just in-general things like dealing with school or whatever鈥檚 going on in your life.鈥

The event will feature four speakers/instructors including Kissick herself, who will focus on her areas of expertise.

鈥淚 will be talking about mindfulness and meditation, as well as yoga, and natural products that you can use for your daily lifestyle,鈥 she said.聽 鈥淭hey鈥檙e natural, they鈥檙e not synthetic like a pill.聽 It鈥檚 talking about your truth; what鈥檚 your truth, and what are you about?鈥

Cindy believes there is something during the event that women of any age could benefit from, and that attendees may take away perhaps a heightened sense of self-awareness or adopt a new line of thinking that enables them to become their best selves.

鈥淭hey might find something that maybe interests them to try a different modality that they didn鈥檛 have before in their life, or realize, 鈥榃ow, I have intuition, how do I use that?鈥,鈥 she said.聽 鈥淗ow do you become your best self?聽 These are modalities that maybe they can take away and apply to their own lives.鈥

The Wellness Day promises to be more than just a trade show, as there is a lot of hands-on learning in a much more intimate setting.

Profits from the event are being donated to the BridgePoint Center for Eating Disorders in Milden.
