Sponsors make playground possible at Diefenbaker community Sandy Shores

Since its installation in June 2019, the TN Train Park Playground at Sandy Shores Resort has been a big success with residents and visitors.

Since its installation in June 2019, the TN Train Park Playground at Sandy Shores Resort has been a big success with residents and visitors. The playground includes a wide variety of structures including a u-swing, multiple slides, various climbing structures and monkey bars, swing set, multi-bouncer, and the featured Blue Imp Express Train.

The Rec In Motion Committee, part of the Sandy Shores Resort Community Association, worked hard to decide on structures that would benefit the largest age range so that everyone could enjoy some aspects of the playground. Once the quotes were received, fundraising including the annual Anniversary BBQ, raffle tickets, and bottle drives were used to raise funds for the playground. Volunteers generously donated their time to help prep the playground location and install the structures.

Sponsorships were extremely important to making the playground a reality. A train shaped sign with face cutout has now been installed at the playground to display the playground rules as well as to acknowledge those sponsorships. Sandy Shores Resort Community Association would like to thank and acknowledge the following sponsors:

Champions ($2500+ donations): Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation, the RM of Coteau, Rauncie & Rob Kinnaird & Family, and Lake Life Properties.

Promoters ($1001-$2500 donations): Sharla & Steve Yungmann & Family, Terry & Glenna Sparks, Dean & Heather Erickson, and Acadia Construction.

Supporters ($250-$1000 donations): Ivan Family, Holder Family, RE/MAX Shoreline Realty, Flaman Group of Companies, Don & Patricia Green & Family, Meridian Surveys, and Metalman Art & Design.

The playground is just one of many amenities that have been installed at Sandy Shores Resort in its first few years. The Water Treatment Plant, Beaches, Trails, and Parks are also very important aspects of the development. Future plans at the development include a Sport Court, Marina, and Marina Marketplace commercial space including confectionary, fuel, etc. The development is currently 67% sold in Phases 1 and 2 with a third phase expected to be released in late 2020.

The Lake Diefenbaker area is flourishing with the Highway 219 expansion, new cellular towers at Danielson and Douglas Provincial Parks, and newly announced $4 Billion Irrigation Project.  The additional infrastructure benefits local businesses and tourism.
