Tulp Named West Central's Coach of the Year

Teacher involved in handful of school sports programs

The West Central Athletics Association has named its newest recipient of the Male Coach of the Year award for 2018/19, and this year’s winner is Outlook High School’s own Lloyd Tulp.

In a media release, West Central’s Lance Morrison thanked Tulp “for all the time and energy he puts into assisting the students/athletes of West Central.â€

During his 13-year careering in coaching, Lloyd has coached senior football in Loreburn, senior football in Delisle, and both junior and senior football in Outlook.  As well, he has also coached athletes in golf and track & field in Loreburn, as well as track & field in Beechy and Kyle.

These days, Coach Tulp can be seen guiding players on the field at OHS in football, as well as on the volleyball court with the senior boys’ team.  Tulp has also been involved in the wrestling program since 2015, where a number of athletes have gone on to qualify for the provincial meet.  He has also coached junior girls’ basketball since 2017, and this past year, the team came in 2nd at the district championship level.  Finally, Lloyd has coached throwers in their field events, and he has provided a strength program for all athletes in all sports.

Tulp has also been coaching with the Calgary Colts of the PFJC, serving one year as a full-time o-line coach and a guest coach at their spring and main camps.

Congratulations to Lloyd on the well-deserved award!
