SASKATOON – Charges have been upgraded to first-degree murder for Allison Bear and Dana Morningchild who are accused of killing Cody Tait.
Bear and Morningchild, who are both from Saskatoon, were originally charged with second-degree murder. Court documents show that Morningchild also faces two drug-related and seven weapons charges in other incidents.
Two others, Robbie Cameron from Saskatoon and Scotty Jimmy from North Battleford, are charged with second-degree murder in Tait’s death.
According to police, Rosthern RCMP received a call at about 5:50 p.m. on March 27 about a shooting on Beardy’s / Odemasis Cree Nation. Officers found Tait on a road and despite life-saving efforts he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Bear, Jimmy, and Cameron are all back in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Dec. 13 and Morningchild appears next on Dec. 20.
