SASKATOON — Update: Saskatoon Police is organizing a search of the South Saskatchewan River after the discovery of a vehicle and personal effects of a missing woman and her son at Chief Whitecap Park.
Police say, "At approximately 9 a.m. July 25, the red Ford F150 belonging to Dawn Walker was located by the RCMP at Chief Whitecap Park, just south of Saskatoon. Also located at the scene were some personal belongings. In addition, the SPS learned that a person in the area had discovered her purse on Saturday, July 23, and had turned it in to the RCMP."
The SPS is coordinating efforts to do a search of river with the help of the Public Safety Unit and the Air Support Unit along with partner agencies.
Members of the public are asked to refrain from visiting Chief Whitecap Park, so that the SPS can conduct its investigation.
Original release: Saskatoon Police are requesting public assistance in locating a missing 48-year-old woman and her six-year-old son.
Dawn Walker was last seen on July 22 at 6 p.m. at a business on the 300 block of Owen Manor in Saskatoon. She may be accompanied by her son. She is thought to be operating a 2021 Ford F150 red in colour bearing Saskatchewan license plate 451MRP.
Dawn Walker is described as five foot five, medium build, blond hair, brown eyes.
There are concerns about Dawn Walker’s well-being as she has not been in contact with friends or family, which is out of character.
Anyone with knowledge regarding the whereabouts of Dawn Walker or her son is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations executive has issued its own amber alert.
Chief Bobby Cameron stated, “We demand the cooperation from all law enforcement to support our amber alert.”
