Forestry bylaw brought up-to-date

How the City deals with trees in Yorkton was again tweaked at the regular meeting of City Council Monday. Council approved an amendment to the Property Standards Bylaw at their Aug. 24, 2015 Council meeting, regarding trees.

Public Awareness Report presented

City manager Lonnie Kaal made a shortened Public Awareness Report to Council at its regular meeting Monday. There were only two items covered by the circulated report.

Resident has property concern

Property owner Frank Hudy appeared before Yorkton Council Monday with water concerns on a neighbouring property at 83 Pheasant Cove. In a letter dated Aug. 30 to Council Hudy related in August of 2015.NL Construction Inc.

Cultures Days upcoming in Yorkton

Yorkton Council unanimously proclaimed Sept. 25 to 27 as Culture Days in the city. The request to proclaim the days was made at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday, by Tonia Vermette, Adminstrator with the Yorkton Arts Council.

City resigns heated shop lease

The City of Yorkton will renew a lease for heated shop space from Yorkton Plumbing and Heating (YPH) Ltd., after finding no other option available in the city. The City鈥檚 lease agreement with Yorkton Plumbing and Heating Ltd.

On September 10, the Western Conservation Law Enforcement Academy was launched for the first time in Saskatchewan with 26 new conservation officer recruits taking part in a 16-week training program.
