It was another lopsided win for the Yorkton Regional High School Raider Gridders.

The Gridders were in Moose Jaw on the weekend to face Vanier High School, where they trumped the host team 54-0.

Gridder coach Jason Boyda said it was a case of everything working, starting with the key position of quarterback.

鈥淗e (Jordin Rusnack) is a beast. There鈥檚 a reason he鈥檚 the reigning MVP,鈥 said Boyda.

Saturday all Rusnack did was throw for 280-yards, and run for 85.

鈥淗e commands our offence. He鈥檚 like a coach out there,鈥 said Boyda, who noted the Raider pivot is a total package. 鈥淭here鈥檚 the athletic ability he brings onto the football, field, and there鈥檚 his football IQ 鈥 that鈥檚 just as important.鈥

The combination has allowed Rusnack to take on more and more responsibility which he has responded to, said his coach.

鈥淗e has a really good understanding of our system,鈥 said Boyda.

Boyda said generally when players are 鈥済iven more ownership of the team,鈥 they respond well because they feel invested in the success of the team, and that is certainly the case with Rusnack.

The Raider Gridders next game will be Saturday when they host Moose Jaw Peacock at 1:00 at Century Field.
