The Yorkton E&S Yankees returned to the diamond June 1 against the visiting Willowbrook Royals after rained forced a postponement of their double-header Saturday in Swan River. Those games will be made up Sunday July 4 in the Manitoba town.

Track and field is moving up the latter as one of the strongest sports in the school at Yorkton's Sacred Heart. Last time out at provincials, SHHS sent 14 young, well-conditioned athletes to compete at the highest level in Saskatchewan.

The Yorkton Cardinals had a scheduled game last night at home against the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets and will host Weyburn on Friday at Jubilee Park. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Yorkton Junior Cardinals will be playing on the road for the next two weeks. Their next home game will be Sunday, June 20 when they host the Regina Athletics in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m.

There was an awful lot of scoring over the weekend at Yorkton Kinsmen Arena.A lot more than usual. One game went their way, the other didn't.

When the 2010 version of the East Central Districts track and field meet was held here recently, it brought out crowds of kids looking to stamp their ticket to Moose Jaw for this weekend's provincials.

This year's race dates have been released by the Parkland Racing Association. The first race will be this Saturday at the Yellowhead International Speedway at 2 p.m. Admission to the park is 13 and over-$8, 6-12-$4, and those under 5 are free.
