The Yorkton Cardinals are coming off a pair of losses and have four games scheduled for this week. Last night, the were scheduled to play the Melville Millionaires.

The Parkland Racing Association released their season schedule last week. After the cancellation of the opening date, they will now open on June 19 at 2 p.m., at the Yellowhead International Speedway.

The 2010 NHL Entry draft is coming up soon and there are a few names of players that are expected to be drafted in the top three.

The Yorkton Tennis Club has released its weekly schedule for 2010. All club activities will take place at the Western Development Museum courts. Play begins on Tuesday evenings with ladies play from 5-7 p.m.

The Yorkton E&S Yankees returned to the diamond June 1 against the visiting Willowbrook Royals after rained forced a postponement of their double-header Saturday in Swan River. Those games will be made up Sunday July 4 in the Manitoba town.

Track and field is moving up the latter as one of the strongest sports in the school at Yorkton's Sacred Heart. Last time out at provincials, SHHS sent 14 young, well-conditioned athletes to compete at the highest level in Saskatchewan.

The Yorkton Cardinals had a scheduled game last night at home against the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets and will host Weyburn on Friday at Jubilee Park. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Western Major Baseball League season is only a week old, and already the Yorkton Cardinals have played six games putting together a 3-3 record thanks to a rain shortened win over Saskatoon at Jubilee Park Monday.

The R. Miller Yorkton Midget AAA Cardinals can lay claim to being the first of the highest age group local baseball teams to play both games of a doubleheader and not have any rain delays or cancellations.
