It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Mentan-ko on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 84 years of age. Steve was born in the Sturgis, Sas-katchewan District on October 27, 1930 to Nestor and Pau-line Mentanko, the 7th of 11 children.

GULKA, Stella

Stella (Prestie) Gul-ka was born on July 24, 1928 in the Checkow Dist. to Franc-es (Derin) Prestie and Mike Prestie. Stella attended Checkow School and worked on the family farm. On Octo-ber 28, 1945 she married Mike M. Gulka.

A Collaborative Emergency Centres (CEC), such as the one being set up in Canora, may not be the answer to the Preeceville Hospital emergency bypass situation but it may offer a possible solution.

Changes at Preeceville School

Many positive changes were visible when the Preeceville School welcomed students back for another school year. The biggest change that the students saw was the special new hardwood floor in the gym that was installed over the summer.

The Sturgis Composite High School opened its doors and welcomed students back for another school year on September 1. The biggest change the school faced this year was the decommissioning of the upstairs portion of the school.

Two little pumpkin plants planted carefully in Mary Pasiechnik’s garden in Preeceville have taken on a life on their own. The two plants have grown to epic proportions and have now scaled the hedge and are creeping quickly to the street.
