YORKTON - Year one of the Legacy Co-op Wonders of Winter presented by the Yorkton Lions Club in now in the books.

“Realizing it’s year one, and we’re just babies and have to learn to walk – it was fantastic,” said Yorkton Lion Don Reed.

Reed said realistically the recently completed season was a sort of a “draft year” and they were just thankful they were able to get the lights and displays up and ready for the public.

Reed said in that regard the Lions were supported by a number of local sponsors and volunteers.

And the public responded.

Reed said while the final numbers are still to be tallied he is thinking 10,000-15,000 people travelled through the displays at the Yorkton City Campgrounds.

And now planning starts for year two.

“You’re going to see lots of changes,” said Reed, adding many people have made suggestions and offered ideas which the Lions and supporters will now go over to see what might work to enhance the show for 2025. He added he knows more displays are already being planned.

Overall Reed said it was a solid foundational year for a fundraiser that the Lions expect to run for years, with money earned turned back to the community supporting various programs in the city.
