Apparent overdose victim Regina's first homicide of 2023

Name of deceased not being release, police say.

REGINA – A suspected overdose in the Washington Park neighbourhood has now been determined to be the city’s first homicide of 2023.

On Feb. 9, just before noon, police responded to a report of an injured person.

“Information received was that a male was the victim of an apparent overdose,” said RPS in a media release. “Police and EMS arrived and attended to the male.”

The 36-year-old man was pronounced deceased at 12 p.m., and next of kin have been notified. Police aren’t releasing the name of the deceased, but are asking anyone with information on this crime to contact RPS at (306) 777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
