BIG RIVER – Police seized drugs and arrested two people following a traffic stop on Dec. 20.
Big River RCMP attempted a traffic stop at about 3:30 p.m. but the driver of the vehicle didn’t initially stop. Police followed the vehicle to a residence. Their investigation determined that the driver had a suspended license and no vehicle registration. He also provided a false name to police.
In the vehicle, police located and seized about 495 grams of cocaine, 306 grams of methamphetamine, 111 LSD blotters, 63 grams of an unknown substance investigators suspected to contain fentanyl, and other drug paraphernalia.
Wilson Coutts, 40, Marcia McMahon, 37, both from Big River, are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Coutts was also charged with identity fraud, resist/obstruct a peace officer, and he received several traffic tickets.
McMahon was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Big River RCMP for failing to attend court.
Wilson Coutts and Marcia McMahon are both scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Dec. 22.
