REGINA — Police say no charges will be laid following a collision between a city transit bus and a light pole late last week.
Investigation by Regina Police Service has determined the driver suffered a medical emergency resulting in the collision. No charges will be laid and no ticket will be issued as a result.
Officers were called to the area of Wascana Parkway and Kramer Boulevard shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2. When they arrived, they observed a bus stopped at an angle on the side of the road just past the intersection of Wascana Parkway and Kramer Boulevard. Underneath the bus was a traffic light, which had been struck by the bus and dragged for approximately 150 yards before the vehicle came to a stop.
At the time of the collision, there were approximately two dozen passengers on the bus. Eight of those passengers reported minor injuries. Five were taken to hospital by EMS as a precaution. The driver was also taken to hospital as he appeared to be in medical distress.
